On May 28, 2010, President Barack Obama issued a proclamation naming June as Great Outdoors Month urging all Americans to renew their commitment to our natural places and explore the Great Outdoors.   

 As has been widely reported, the President recently launched the launched America’s Great Outdoors Initiative to protect natural landscapes and reconnect Americans to the outdoors.   The Great Outdoors Initiative builds upon the First Lady’s Let’s Move effort to help children eat more nutritious foods, lead healthier lives, and increase their physical activity.   Additional information on these initiatives is available at:  http://www.doi.gov/americasgreatoutdoors/> and  <http://www.letsmove.gov/>
